Avramele was the first farm maneger. Whenever he went to the bank or other institutions, he had to take his father along since he was under 18 and wasn't allowed checks and other documents.
During the first days on the Kibbutz there wasn't any water and a large water tank was brought in for general use. This water wasn't enough for all the needs and in order to shower the members used to travel to Kibbutz Harel. These travels involved several escapades: The members used to shower, put on their clean clothes get into the car and on the way home get stuck in the mud. After shoving and pushing the vehicle they returned home to Nachshon covered in mud from head to toe. Yomale and Danale used to dig holes for the Jewish National Fund on the hills near to Moshav Baquoa. According to the rules of the Jewish National Fund they were not allowed to dig more than 25 holes a day. This job took only a few hours and the other kibbutz members wanted them to complete their days work on the kibbutz. They started to drag their day out. They would stroll to the hills in the morning, dig their holes until 08:00, prepare a great breakfast, dine until 12:00 and Danale would tell about the movies he had seen and Yomale would hush him and say "Danele they will hear you at home". When there wasn't work on the Kibbutz some members went to work at Givat Brenner. Yehuda shared a tent with Yoshua. One morning the guard shook Yehuda awake saying "Yoshua, Yoshua wake up" Yehuda got dressed quickly, when he was ready he caught his head in his hands and started running after the guard shouting "but i'm not Yoshua, i'm not Yoshua". During the period of training for kibbutz way of life at Beit Alfa, some of the members went to the army recruiting center in Afula. During the medical examination they had a hearing test. The doctor would whisper a word in the ear and it had to be repeated. He whispered to Gerry "one and he replied "one" - he whispered "two" and he replied - "two" "Haifa" and Gerry replied "three" "Jerusalem" and he replied "four". After a period of candidacy Shmil and Yehuda Preiss joined the "underground". All the while they were candidates they had to do guard duty outside while secret meetings were held in one of the bunkers. The underground members claimed that they would never leave Nachshon. In fact, those who are left on Nachshon are the guards. Mira and Danale returned late one night from Tel-Aviv. They waited for a ride in from the junction. Suddenly a jeep from the border patrol stopped. The policeman asked them what they were doing at the junction at such a time. They tried to assure him that all was well but he got excited and ordered them into the jeep. All the policemen in the jeep cocked their weapons and escorted the couple home safely to Nachshon. Plot No. 5 which was in "No Mans Land" was toiled on by the kibbutz since it was established. A day after the Six Day War a group of tourists were visiting the area and noticed the workers moving pipes. The tour guide pointed to them excitedly saying "Look at our boys! The war is hardly over and they are already watering the land". Yehuda was at a farm managers course at Givat Haviva. The lecturer spoke about how to dust a vegetable garden. He suggested using old socks to distribute the powder. Yehuda was astonished, got up and asked in all seriousness - "how many socks to a dunam?". Gillian had a guest over from England. One evening he suffered from stomach pains. He went to the clinic and was given a suppository. Gillian saw him cutting up the suppository into little pieces. She asked him what he was doing and he replied that it was too difficult to swallow whole. Rami Shafan (Rabbit) was to be the guide of the third group for a tour of Sinai. He left with the second group in order to get to know the route. He left signs all along the way to mark the locations for his group. At one spot he left a tin of sardines and at another spot marked "tree with flies". On the trip with his group he was busy all the time looking for his signs. The kibbutz once had an ambulance which was used sometimes for trips to Jerusalem. The ambulance of course had a siren. To make an impact and in order to get to Jerusalem quickly, the driver would activate the siren. All the buses would move aside, the ambulance would huff and puff the driver would put on gas but was unable to overtake. Yehuda worked one evening in the dining room. He suddenly jumped up slapped his forehead and shouted "oy yo yo - I forgot to put on the kettle". He ran, lit the gas and put the kettle on. After awhile he suddenly jumped up again, slapped his forehead and shouted "oy yo yo - I forgot to put water in the kettle".
