The
Stained Glass Workshop at Kibbutz Nachshon is one of the oldest
of its kind and also the best equipped and advanced in Israel.
The factory was created in 1971 by Shadmi, an artist and a member
of Kibbutz Nachshon. Shadmi studied art at the Bezalel School
of Art in Jerusalem, He learnt the specialization of stained
glass windows from an old Dutch Monk at the Latrun Monastery
which is adjacent to Nachshon. Shadmi has accumulated 30 years
of experience in the making of stained glass windows for public
buildings, synagogues, Judaic artifacts, churches, restoration
of antique windows as well as modernly designed windows for
homes. The factory deals in a variety of techniques and has
given admirable solutions to a wide range of architectural projects.
One of the techniques employed is silkscreening on glass. A
wide range of glass dishes, wall plaques, glass partitions and
slabs are manufactured at the factory.
