Arik Sharon had sent hundreds of Israeli soldiers to their death in Lebanon (not to mention several thousands Arab civilians). His harebrained scheming to place an Israeli puppet in power in Beirut had gotten us embroiled in that bloody mad house for eighteen years - and it's not yet over. Those of us who came back from Lebanon and went out to the streets of Jerusalem to demonstrate against the war he branded as "traitors" and "well-poisoners"; The violence he incited culminated in an hand-grenade thrown at one such demonstration, killing Emil Grintzwige.

As I write this, Sharon is poised to become Israel's next prime minister. I think it's a disgrace - but this is Israeli politics for you. Just consider: Benyamin Netanyahu, arguably the worst PM in Israeli history, is waiting on the sidelines...
